May-Graves Home, Eustis Street

This house was built in 1893 for the May family. It was built of wood which was transported here by barge and wagon from the family's Marshall County farm. Mr. and Mrs. Patrick H. Graves, Jr. purchased the home in 1978 and have restored it. Several original features of this Colonial Revival house include unpainted oak doors and interior trim, eight fireplaces and some of the May furnishings. Its screened back porch with ceiling fan is delightful. Sketched by Lee Harless, 1987.
